How it began

TAYLOR’S STORY
I was running late, it was pouring, and the coffee shop had exactly one umbrella left in the bin by the door. Jordan grabbed it at the same moment I did, and instead of arguing, we shared it and walked the six blocks to work together. I remember thinking that this person laughs at everything, even my terrible jokes. By the end of that walk I had a new favorite coffee order and a phone number written on a napkin. Five years, two apartments and one very spoiled dog later, I still keep that napkin tucked in my wallet.

JORDAN’S STORY
For the record, I saw the umbrella first. But I also saw Taylor, soaked and still smiling, and decided sharing was the better plan. That walk was the shortest six blocks of my life. We started meeting for coffee every Tuesday, then every day, and somewhere along the way Taylor became the first person I wanted to tell everything to. Taylor plans every trip down to the minute, and I make sure we take the scenic route anyway. It just works. We balance each other out, and I can't imagine doing life with anyone else.
THE PROPOSAL
Jordan had the whole thing planned for months. The ring was hidden in a hollowed-out book on our shelf, the dinner reservation was made and the forecast promised a clear, warm evening. Of course, it rained. Instead of the fancy dinner, we ended up laughing under a shop awning a few blocks from the coffee shop where it all began, sharing one umbrella again. That is where Jordan got down on one knee, completely soaked, and asked the question. I said yes before the sentence was even finished, and the people waiting at the bus stop started clapping.
Looking back, we would not change a thing. The rain gave us the perfect full-circle moment, and it reminded us that the best plans always leave a little room for surprises. We celebrated that night with takeout, our families on speakerphone and a bottle of champagne we had been saving for something special. Now we are planning our next chapter, and we cannot wait to share it with the people who mean the most to us. Thank you for being part of our story. We will see you at The Oak Grove on June 12th, 2027, umbrellas optional!
